Falconer swinging meat to attract bird, Hedington Castle, Castle Hedington, Essex, England

The audience is seated at the front of the castle, but the falcon has flown away, and has alighted on another building at the back. At first, Gordon, the falconer tries calling from the arena. When this failed, he came round to the back to swing some dead meat. Even this didn’t work, and he had to requisition the lawn by the Tudor bridge from the archery to tempt the bird back to the ground. It added a bit more drama to his display!
