Gulp - my blog has already been listed!
It is my custom to browse through the web statistics for reggie.net every morning. I've only had the web log running using blogger for two days, and I now notice that 11 people have visited me from www.technorati.com. Hmm. I'm only using this as a temporary stopgap until I have some PHP code running.

Artist haiku
I just went to www.magneticpoetry.com, and tried the Java Artist Kit. So, today's haiku is:
sculpture canvas empty
how nude the metaphor
masterpiece absurd
Deep Impact
How deep is the need within to be the salvation of humanity? Will it ever be possible for Americans to save themselves, let alone the world? Does the sacrifice of the few really atone the many?
I'm glad to see my ideas haven't drowned. And yet, I have to reflect on my motives. What need does the world have of a modern Moses?
Reggie the cook
I was just trying to find out why I get so much junkmail to reggie -at- reggie.net. So, I did a Google search for reggie@reggie and discovered that the owner of reggie -at- reggie.com is quite a cook! See www.recipesource.com
TV remote
I bought a TV remote in Tesco this afternoon. It was just under £10. The hope was that it would allow me to get channel 5 on the Sony TV in Shan's room. Regrettably, I couldn't get the menu option working. The TV had been left behind about 8 years ago by a lodger who was on benefits and wasn't paying his rent. Still, the remote control will be useful.
I think Shan is a bit upset about her hard disk failure. She doesn't want me to worry about it. I've ordered the UPS from Dabs. The Belkin alternatives in PCWorld were much more expensive.
Search for UPS
I think I'll purchase a UPS. The Energy protector 650 from Dabs.com seems good value at £57.57.
Shan uses the computer without the built-in battery, which means that the power supply is liable to have larger variations. Also, China is at 220V, so the 240V UK supply is 10% higher.
Hunting for blogger alternative
Just looking for a PHP solution to blogger. I might try and adapt the PHPBB2 software, because it already has full Japanese language support built in.
Wow, I've just set up a blog to replace my diary. It's time to move into the twenty-first century. I chose www.blogger.com because it has recently been taken over by Google - meaning that perhaps it is on the way up. However, a PHP MySQL solution might be more appropriate in the long run, since I may have to integrate it with a search engine.
Well, this is the first entry. Let's see if it all works.
Funny! I just did a spell check with ieSpell, and it didn't recognise 'blog', 'Google', 'PHP' or 'MySQL'. Perhaps I need a 21st century spell checker.
